Shunya's Design Story

"Good design is a feeling, not an object."

At Sarla, we embrace this philosophy with pride as we introduce Shunya, India's first flying taxi. Building a revolutionary transportation network from scratch means designing experiences that truly matter—experiences that will shape the way millions, and eventually billions, travel every day. But we want to do more than just get you from A to B faster. With Shunya, we aim to reenergize you, to make each journey something you look forward to.

We follow three core design principles when creating Shunya:

  1. Simplicity Matters
This principle guides our engineering and the overall user experience. When you board Shunya, we want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. It's crucial that Shunya is simple to use, intuitive in its ergonomics, and visually calming—so your journey begins the moment you step on board.

  2. Beauty is a Form of Function
While functionality is key, beauty is not secondary—it is part of the function. We believe in the Bauhaus principle of "Form Follows Function," but we also see function as a form of beauty. Every design choice in Shunya is made with this balance in mind, ensuring you not only enjoy the ride but also the elegance of the experience.

  3. Good Design is a Feeling, Not an Object
This principle is especially important when creating a new way of traveling. We don’t just want you to use Shunya; we want you to feel something special during your flight. If you feel good after your journey, you will understand and appreciate the new era of mass mobility we're creating.

With these guiding principles, we've designed Shunya to be not just highly durable and functional but also deeply human-centered. It’s a product that evolves with you, takes less than 10 seconds to adapt to, and makes you feel at home in the air. Shunya is more than just a flying vehicle—it’s a new approach to travel. We can’t wait to show you the real thing very soon!
